Aerial Photo 7 - Hwy 341, Ozark National Forest, Baxter & Stone Counties,
Arkansas
The cleared patch in the foreground is called a "food plot". These
meadows are spots cleared by the U.S. Forest Service and the Arkansas Game and Fish
Commission. Special browse grasses and plants are cultivated so that wildlife will have
food in years when hard mast (nuts) growth is low. Food plots are found short distances
off the main road down dirt roads. They make a great place for nature photography,
camping, walking, and hunting. Whatever you do DO NOT venture off the roads! As you can
see, if you get lost it will be extremely hard to find you in all these hills! |
