Foliage & Water Photo 6 -  Barkshed Recreation Area, Stone County, Arkansas
The Barkshed recreation area of the Sylamore District of the Ozark National Forest is a great place to find color. You can drive here on well maintained back country dirt roads. You'll be in deep valleys in between several high ridges. Barkshed, as well as Gunner Pool a few miles up the road, offer primitive camping sites as well as good parking. Either Barkshed or Gunner make an excellent day trip destination as all the roads leading to them will have good foliage displays.
