Photography Free Use Terms

Many people and organizations have used our photographs without our permission. Such acts are a violation of Federal Copyright laws. Moreover, we are professional photographers who derive income from selling the right to use our work. Thus, when you steal our photographs you are messing with our income. We WILL come after you if you use our photos without our written permission.

However, if you follow our simple guidelines, we almost always allow FREE use of our images, no matter who you are, even for-profit use. There are also times we do NOT allow free use of our images, it all depends on where they will end up. Here is what you need to do to find out:

1. Get Our Written Permission
Before using any photo for any reason contact us by email or by telephone to obtain our written permission for you to use our photographs. Nobody, for any reason, may use our photographs without first obtaining our written permission. We need to know who you are, how we can contact you, and where you will use the photographs. We also need to know which photographs you want to use. Identify them by the number that appears in the caption.

2. General Use Terms
After we receive your request to use our photos we will email you a complete list of requirements you will need to comply with for free use. Complying with these free use terms will not cost you any money, and will take about five minutes of your time. For example, we require that the © 2Cooleys.com mark stays on the photograph at all times in certain sizes and colors. We also require that the file path on your server for the image contain the 2cooleys name, for example 2cooleys-com_foliage.jpg or something similar. There are other similar simple requirements you will need to comply with.

3. Automatic $1,000 Bill
Using any of our photographs, or any part of any of our photographs, without first obtaining our written permission shall be treated by us as your automatic unconditional agreement to immediately pay us $1,000 per photograph per use. If we found you have used our photographs without our permission we WILL bill you and pursue legal actions if you don't pay. Now that's not very nice, but hey! Just do what we ask and we'll all be happy!
