Ozark Highlands Trail (OHT)
Access At Points 29, 30A, 31, 33, 37, 40, 42
The Ozark Highlands Trail offers both long
and short day hike routes. Over 250 miles long and growing, this section of the OHT runs
32 miles through the Sylamore National Forest and the Leatherwood Wilderness Area. It is
on the extreme west edge of 2Cooleys tour map.
The Sylamore section of the OHT begins
at Point 30A on our map, then runs through Points 29, 31, 33, 37, 40, and 42. At each
point you can hike a short distance, or from point to point.
The OHT is open to foot traffic only. Horses,
ATVs, mountain bikes, or anything other than human foot traffic is not allowed.
The North Sylamore Creek
Hiking Trail (NSCT) connects with the
OHT at Point 31 at the Cripple Turkey Road trailhead where the NSCT ends. This is the only
point the two trails meet.
