Arkansas State Highway 341 - AKA Push Mountain Road

Starts at Point 28 and runs 26 miles to Point 43 at the intersection with Highway 201. This is the most remote leg of our tour.

The road is smooth pavement with steep, sharp, banked turns. This is Push Mountain Road, now famous with sportscar and motorcycle clubs for it's "dragons" and "snakes", meaning a series of sharp uphill and downhill "S" turns. This is the kind of road that high performance machines were made for.

Push Mountain Road Hazard Warning! Because of it's sharp curves it is important that you always stay in your lane on this road. Your life, as well as lives of others, could depend on it. For your safety and that of others, please stay in your lane at all times.

Back country roads approved for ATV use are all along Hwy 341. Off these roads are additional road branches that are also ATV use approved.

Five trailheads for the Ozark Highlands Trail (OHT) are right beside the road. A sixth OHT trailhead is down Rand Road at Point 30A. Horse trail access is at Point 32 across the road from the old Push Mountain fire tower.

A little known hiking trail at the end of Merrill Ridge Road (Point 34) leads down into North Sylamore Creek.

The Leatherwood Wilderness Area lies on the west side of Hwy 341 between Point 30 and Point 33.  At Point 38 you can get gasoline and highway diesel at CrossRoads Store. This is where you turn to go down to the White River Cartney Access.
